About The Position

The Nursing Simulation and Lab Educator supports excellence in nursing education through the integration and facilitation of simulation-based learning and lab experiences. This role combines direct teaching, simulation operations, and coordination responsibilities. The educator collaborates with faculty and staff to design, implement, and evaluate simulation and lab experiences aligned with course and program outcomes, current clinical practice, and educational best practices. Primary reporting to the Nursing Director with collaborative oversight and operational support from the Health Sciences Simulation Director.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited college
  • Minimum two (2) years of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in nursing education, including teaching and/or lab or simulation coordination
  • Preparation in teaching/learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation (must be completed within first 3 years if not already obtained)
  • Competency in current nursing practice for RN and/or LPN education

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)
  • Experience with simulation software and hardware (e.g., Laerdal, CAE)
  • Successful experience teaching in Women's Health, Maternal Health, Newborn, and/or Pediatrics
  • Prior experience with interdisciplinary simulation or collaborative care scenarios

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage day-to-day operations of the nursing simulation and skills labs in collaboration with the Health Sciences Simulation Coordinator
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate simulation-based learning scenarios and remediation experiences
  • Maintain inventory and coordinate scheduling of lab equipment, simulators, and supplies
  • Ensure simulation and lab environments support current safety, infection control, and professional standards
  • Facilitate student learning in simulation, skills, and remediation labs
  • Conduct pre-briefing, debriefing, and performance evaluation aligned with simulation best practices (INACSL)
  • Provide individualized student coaching and remediation per faculty referral
  • Support interdisciplinary lab use and open lab hours for student practice
  • Collaborate with course coordinators and faculty to align lab/simulation content with course objectives
  • Train faculty on the effective use of simulation and lab equipment
  • Assist in curriculum development related to simulation-based education
  • Maintain current licensure and participate in professional development activities
  • Engage in simulation education training and/or certification
  • Serve on college and department committees
  • Support community relations and advisory board engagement related to simulation
