About The Position

The Lead role at Genesis Cancer and Blood Institute involves collaborating with the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) and/or the Regional Director of Nursing to plan, direct, and evaluate the overall nursing care and functions of the clinic. This position requires coordination of unit activities, directing, organizing, and assigning work to nurses and pharmacy technicians. The Lead will assess, monitor, and educate nursing staff on patient care, institute emergency procedures as necessary, and ensure compliance with all job breakdown instructions (JBIs) and regulations. The role encompasses all core responsibilities and performance expectations of the Registered Nurse, along with additional leadership and oversight duties.

Requirements

  • Unencumbered RN License in the state of employment or multi-state licensure.
  • Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in nursing.
  • Registered Nurse license.
  • Certification of OCN required within two years of employment.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid state Driver’s License for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings.
  • At least two years of experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Second language is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with office departments to ensure continuity of patient care and smooth office flow.
  • Prepare schedules for clinic’s nurses and pharmacy technicians.
  • Plan orientation of new nurses and pharmacy technicians.
  • Review and assess skills of new employees to determine training needs.
  • Complete incident reports and adverse event reports.
  • Coordinate with nurses to ensure patient education is completed prior to new medication initiation.
  • Act as a resource for staff regarding AON policies and procedures.
  • Support clinical trials and communicate with Research Coordinator.
  • Work with purchasing department to maintain PAR levels and minimize waste.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
  • Attend and participate in CNM and RDN scheduled meetings.
  • Function and staff as a Registered Nurse when necessary.
  • Provide daily direction and communication to employees.
  • Create and maintain a high-quality work environment.
  • Provide performance feedback and coaching to nursing and pharmacy staff.
  • Interview job applicants and provide feedback.
