About The Position

The Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs advanced PET/CT nuclear studies while leading daily operations of the Nuclear Imaging department. This position combines hands-on imaging expertise with administrative leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, maintain accreditation, and drive the department’s growth. The role collaborates closely with neurologists, urologists, neurosurgeons, and radiologists to create patient-centered imaging protocols and deliver exceptional diagnostic care.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in nuclear medicine and PET/CT imaging
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or ARRT(N)
  • Arizona Department of Health Services licensure for Nuclear Medicine Therapy
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Physical ability to assist patients and lift equipment up to 75+ lbs

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality PET/CT scans for accurate clinical interpretation
  • Administer and monitor radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring safety and dose optimization
  • Educate and support patients throughout procedures to ensure comfort and understanding
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot PET/CT equipment
  • Oversee daily workflow to maintain efficiency and quality
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Manage radiopharmaceutical inventory and ordering
  • Train and mentor technologists and support staff as the program grows
  • Collaborate on budgeting and strategic planning for department expansion
  • Lead accreditation efforts (ACR, IAC) and ensure ongoing compliance with NRC, FDA, OSHA, and state regulations
  • Maintain a comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) program and conduct regular equipment assessments
  • Partner with the facility Radiation Safety Officer to uphold safety protocols
  • Stay current on advancements in PET/CT imaging and implement best practices
  • Explore opportunities to expand services, including protocols for neurological disorders, oncology, and urological conditions
  • Support research collaborations or clinical trials

Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $60.00 – $65.00
  • Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 paid after one year of continuous employment
  • Relocation Reimbursement: Up to $3,000 for qualified external candidates
