POSITION SUMMARY: The Nuclear Medicine Team Leader reports to the Director of Medical Imaging and has operational responsibility for the Field of Nuclear Medicine. The incumbent is accountable for the quality of patient care, the performance of Nuclear Medicine, the development and management of the budget, financial stability and growth, and the orientation, education and development of the staff. COMPETENCIES: · Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required in order to write work-related policies and procedures, including preparation of monthly reports for senior management. · The ability to prepare and deliver presentations is desirable, but not required. · This position requires an incumbent with a strong grasp of the English language, as well as at least a high school level of math in order to develop and monitor the department’s budget. · Computer skills to perform the essential managerial duties of this position require the use of Windows-based Excel, Word, Access and Outlook software programs. Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required in order to write work-related policies and procedures, including preparation of monthly reports for senior management.
  • This position requires an incumbent with a strong grasp of the English language, as well as at least a high school level of math in order to develop and monitor the department’s budget.
  • Computer skills to perform the essential managerial duties of this position require the use of Windows-based Excel, Word, Access and Outlook software programs.
  • This position requires a minimum of an Associate’s Degree, Bachelors preferred, with a study emphasis in Healthcare and membership in ASRT/AHRA and/or State Society.
  • The incumbent must be a graduate of an accredited professional AMA-accredited Nuclear Medicine Program. Nuclear Medicine TCB or ARRT board certified.
  • A current and valid ARRT is required.
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of related job experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role including accountability for staff development and financial business management.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all routine Nuclear Medicine procedures according to department standards, protocols and guidelines to meet requirements of American Registry of Nuclear Sciences.
  • Provides careful critique and assessment of image quality. Meets monthly with staff and provides minutes.
  • Manages Radiation Safety Program for institution, including physicians, nursing, radiology and ancillary staff.
  • Meets NRC, JACHO and state regulation in maintenance of radioactive material and license compliance.
  • Obtains continuing education to maintain NMTCB or ARRT certification.
  • Ensures that staff reviews all information, interviews patient prior to performing procedure, considers patients’ medical/surgical condition and documents additional information for the physician to assist in diagnostic study/interpretation as per supervisor’s guidance.
  • Ensures that staff consistently provides proper lab results, clinical data and any other pertinent information verifying medical history and clinical correlation to ensure an accurate and complete exam by the Sonographer and physician as evidenced by error-free exams and positive feedback from physicians.
  • Ensures that the staff maintains consistent, error-free documentation of all charts. Able to train others in use of clinical system functions as a super-user or performs additional computer functions not required of job description as observed by leadership and error-free submissions.
  • Provides an organized patient schedule in conjunction with daily needs such as Emergency Department and urgent Inpatient and Outpatient requests. Is willing to make schedule adjustments as needed.
  • Demonstrates extreme flexibility in accommodating requests for “stat” exams and unscheduled requests as evidenced by positive referral feedback.
  • Meets standards described under “Quality and is responsive to radiologists’ needs during invasive exams as evidenced by positive satisfaction feedback from radiologists and other staff members who must be current on performance of exams.
  • Follows “quality standards” and makes sure to educate technical staff on Quality Control/Quality Assurance requirements. Demonstrates exemplary qualities as observed by Quality Inspection Infection Control Committee.
