About The Position

Know nuclear medicine studies and radiation safety and follow all state regulations. Perform nuclear medicine studies; determine appropriate isotope required; obtain patient history and review patient condition; transport patients to nuclear medicine rooms. Properly track patients through computer system to ensure proper completion of exams. Administer isotope dosage accurately following established departmental procedures; accurately record dosage administered and observe patients during procedure and report any unusual occurrences to appropriate personnel. Verify correct images are in place and properly verify digital images for interpretations in picture archiving system. Ensure all digital images are available for interpretation. Recognize the need for the control/assessment of pain and falls for patients and help to prevent or reduce patient pain levels and patient falls when possible. Report occurrences of medical/healthcare errors and actions taken to improve patient safety, both in response to actual occurrences and proactive findings, as outlined in the patient's safety plan. Ensure radiation safety program is in place and followed by all CRMC employees. Protect self and others from undue radiation exposure. Supervise the radiation badge service and distribute/collect badges in appropriate time. Serve as CRMC's radiation safety officer as needed and attend RSQA meetings. Establish and maintain communication within department and with other hospital departments. Remain flexible with schedule; work additional hours/shifts in situations of high census, adverse weather conditions and other employee absences or vacancies as requested. Perform all other related duties as assigned or requested. Supervise, educate, and perform disciplinary actions for nuclear medicine employees as needed and coordinate with diagnostic imaging manager and director as needed. Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences. Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology and/or nuclear medicine technology.
  • Must have current registry with ARRT and/or nuclear medicine board.
  • Two to three years’ experience in nuclear medicine with knowledge of all state requirements.
  • Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with patients, patients’ families, visitors, salesmen, and general public.
  • Communication skills, some computer skills, task-orientated, organized, and familiarity with the operation of all nuclear medicine equipment are necessary.
  • Understand and have training in radiation safety procedures.
