About The Position

The Lead Nuclear Med/PET Technologist is responsible for overseeing the PET/CT department, ensuring compliance with health care policies and protocols, and leading a team of technologists and aides. This role involves organizing work, maintaining quality assurance, and assisting in the accreditation process. The technologist will also be involved in patient care, equipment maintenance, and staff training, while promoting a positive work environment.

Requirements

  • Must possess an Associates of Applied Science Degree or higher from an approved Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine or Therapy Program.
  • Be CNMT or ARRT certified.
  • PET certification preferred and must be pursued when hired if not already obtained.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Must have at least 6 months of PET or PET/CT experience.
  • Able to identify or detect and correct any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety.
  • Leads and gives direction to technologist and technologist aide staff.
  • Provides feedback for technologist career ladder/performance evaluation.
  • Organizes and assigns work to maintain an efficient multi-task environment.
  • Assumes responsibility for decisions made in all clinical operations and procedures.
  • Maintains current technologists credentials and CEU records.
  • Assists Safety Officer with OSHA training and safety training.
  • Reviews injury reports and determines training and safety needs.
  • Ensures Quality Assurance is up-to-date with PACS systems and Patient Image Quality.
  • Assists Chief Tech in ACR accreditation process.
  • Initiates, monitors, and terminates procedures after consultation with Authorized User/Medical Director.
  • Assists Chief Tech with patient-related complaints/issues.
  • Maintains knowledge of equipment currently in use.
  • Assists Chief in establishing a schedule of preventative maintenance.
  • Assures adequate supplies of medical and radiographic supplies.
  • Monitors Quality Control on camera and ancillary equipment.
  • Teaches and plans proper cleaning of equipment.
  • Develops new procedural techniques and implements them.
  • Cooperates in the orientation and training of new protocols.
  • Participates in and attends staff meetings.
  • Promotes a sense of worth in all personnel.
  • Strives to maintain and upgrade competence, education, and skills.
