About The Position

This position involves evaluating and treating patients with physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial deficits. The role also includes leading assigned staff in performing therapy assignments, coordinating shift operations, serving as a technical resource, assigning and monitoring work, overseeing staff orientation and training, and potentially providing input on performance reviews. The therapist assesses patient's ability to perform independent living skills, designs and implements treatment plans, documents progress, and modifies care as needed. Patient and family education, discharge planning, and oversight of care provided by designated individuals are also key aspects.

Requirements

  • Doctorate, Master’s or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy or related area
  • Three years of experience
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) required within 90 day of employment.
  • Other resuscitation certifications may be required dependent on department.
  • Occupational Therapist - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) (for Illinois)
  • Occupational Therapist - Missouri Division of Professional Registration (for Missouri)
  • Occupational Therapist - Oklahoma Medical Board (for Oklahoma)
  • Occupational Therapist (OT) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (for Wisconsin)

Responsibilities

  • Leads or coordinates shift operations of assigned activities, resources, and/or associates.
  • Serves as a technical or functional resource and performs similar duties with staff.
  • Assigns, monitors and reviews progress of work.
  • Monitors and reports compliance with policies and/or procedures.
  • Oversees and evaluates orientation and training of assigned associates.
  • May provide input in the review and evaluation of staff performance.
  • Assesses patient 's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills.
  • Designs the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
  • Implements the treatment plan using appropriate modalities.
  • Documents findings of patient progress.
  • Monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed.
  • Seeks consultation as necessary.
  • Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
  • Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
  • Oversees the care provided by designated individuals according to established regulations and practice standards.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
