Make precision that matters Join TOMZ and lead complex setups and production for life‑critical medical device components. You’ll report to the Operations Supervisor and be trusted to run Swiss and multi‑axis equipment to ISO 13485 standards while mentoring others and advancing continuous improvement. What you will do Set up and operate: Citizen/Tsugami Swiss lathes, Index multi‑spindle lathes, RoboDrills, mill‑turn, and horizontal/vertical mills (3‑4‑5 axis). Own offsets, tool changes, and process stability with minimal assistance. Launch and sustain both complex legacy parts and new production orders. Execute visual and dimensional inspections using microscopes, micrometers, calipers, pin/thread gauges, comparators, Micro‑Hite, CMM, and vision systems. Complete ISO 13485/GMP documentation; ensure material control, identification, and traceability for conforming and nonconforming materials. Lead problem‑solving for challenging machine/process issues and drive corrective actions. Perform scheduled/regular preventive maintenance; use hand tools for repairs and changeovers. Utilize ERP and QMS to capture inspections and maintain traceability. Model safety and PPE compliance; uphold the TOMZ Quality Management System. Train and mentor junior machinists to elevate team capability. What you bring Experience in Class I/II/III medical device manufacturing or comparable regulated sectors (aerospace, defense, automotive). Working knowledge of GMP/ISO and ISO 13485 documentation practices. Self‑directed collaborator across R&D, Manufacturing, and QA with minimal guidance. Advanced mechanical aptitude in equipment setup, care, and inspection workflows. Proficiency with hand tools for PM and equipment/tooling adjustments. Blueprint/specification literacy and strong procedural discipline. Organized, detail‑driven, and effective at identifying nonconformances. Intermediate GD&T skills. Education & experience Technical school certification preferred; equivalent, directly relevant manufacturing/engineering experience considered. 3–7 years in a regulated manufacturing environment. Preferred: strong English verbal/written communication skills. Physical demands & environment Lift up to 50 lbs (team/mechanical assist required above 50 lbs). Repetitive hand/arm motion with loads up to 20 lbs; gripping, twisting, component placement; occasional overhead lifts. 20/20 vision (corrected or uncorrected) for sorting; fine motor skills for small/medium products. Exposure to oils, grease, noise, solvents, dust, metal particles, sparks, coolant, sharp edges; PPE such as safety glasses, dust masks, ear plugs, cut‑resistant or chemical‑resistant gloves, and engineering controls may be required. Prolonged standing or sitting.
