Under the direction of the radiologist, performs appropriate diagnostic exams and studies to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Radiologic Technologist program.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Current registration and licensure by the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) if registered through ARRT.
  • Current registration and licensure by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMIT).
  • MRI Certification (ARRT) required within one year post educational cross training.
  • Minimum of one-year experience as an MRI technologist.

Nice To Haves

  • Education preferred from an educational institution approved by ARRT, JCERT, or ACR.
  • Previous experience as a supervisor or lead.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of MRI staff, including coordinating work assignments and monitoring staff performance.
  • Observes and assists technical and ancillary staff in the performance of job duties.
  • Performs preparation of control and quality control and assessment tasks (QA/QC).
  • Ensures the department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies and professional standards.
  • Serves as the Clinical Coordinator for MRI students.
  • Anatomically positions the patient and performs imaging procedures utilizing MRI.
  • Uses professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures to ensure quality diagnostic outcomes.
  • Selects the most appropriate patient care plan after reviewing pertinent data.
  • Selects appropriate shielding and immobilization devices.
  • Evaluates lab values prior to administering contrast media.
  • Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure.
  • Reconfirms patient identification and verifies procedure requested.
  • Monitors patient and equipment during procedures and documents exam times.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively perform advanced MRI angiography.
  • Demonstrates understanding of magnetic resonance safety compliance requirements.
  • Provides evidence-based care to prevent healthcare acquired conditions.
  • Practices standard precautions during patient contact.
  • Complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines.
  • Regularly applies AIDET when taking care of patients.
  • Participates in continuous process improvement.
