Retail Services WIS CorporationPlano, TX
22d$140,000 - $180,000Hybrid

About The Position

WIS International is a global leader in inventory solutions, and FlexCount is our rapidly growing SaaS platform delivering real-time inventory intelligence to retailers worldwide. Our Android application powers thousands of store associates and managers daily, and we’re looking for a seasoned engineer to help us scale and innovate. As a Lead Mobile Developer, you will be a technical leader within the Android team, owning complex problem spaces and driving impactful solutions. You’ll work on high-scale, mission-critical systems, mentor peers, and influence technical direction across the organization.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional Android development experience.
  • Proven track record of owning large problem spaces in production apps used by thousands of daily active users.
  • Expertise in performance optimization, offline-first systems, and rugged/enterprise device constraints.
  • Experience leading complex re-architecture efforts and shipping safely to 100% of users.
  • Strong ability to mentor engineers and contribute to team growth.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience implementing Real User Monitoring (RUM) to track and analyze customer journeys within mobile applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Significant contributions to open-source Android libraries.
  • Experience defining and rolling out mobile platform strategies.
  • Familiarity with scaling Android apps across large device fleets (50k+ devices).

Responsibilities

  • Identify, define, and lead cross-org mobile programs that remove critical blockers to company objectives (e.g., 99.99% offline availability, sub-second sync on 100k+ devices, zero-touch device provisioning at scale).
  • Architect and deliver breakthrough mobile systems that achieve measurable company-level outcomes (e.g., multi-million-dollar cost savings, new revenue-enabling capabilities, or category-defining reliability).
  • Set and evolve the long-term (2–5 year) mobile technical strategy and roadmap; align it with executive leadership and product strategy.
  • Own resolution of the most complex, ambiguous, and high-severity problems spanning mobile, backend, firmware, and third-party hardware.
  • Establish and enforce mobile engineering standards, patterns, and platforms adopted by all Android squads and influencing other client teams.
  • Build or champion foundational libraries, tooling, or infrastructure that become de-facto standards across the entire engineering organization.
  • Drive upstream leadership in key open-source projects we depend on; become a recognized voice in the Android OSS ecosystem when relevant.
  • Mentor and develop senior engineers; actively grow the next generation of lead and senior engineers.
  • Lead mobile hiring strategy, calibration, and promotion committees; personally close senior and staff-level candidates.
  • Represent FlexCount mobile engineering externally when needed (conferences, OSS governance, vendor technical councils).
  • Act as incident commander for company-level mobile incidents; ensure systemic fixes prevent recurrence at scale.

Benefits

  • Work on a product impacting thousands of retail locations globally.
  • Be part of a high-performing team that values technical excellence and innovation.
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and growth opportunities.
