About The Position

This position involves driving to various client facilities, primarily nursing homes, to perform phlebotomy tasks as directed by the company dispatcher or Area Phlebotomy Supervisor. The employee will follow established procedures for obtaining blood samples, ensuring proper patient identification, specimen labeling, and adherence to privacy policies. The role requires planning and organizing the draw schedule, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with various departments. The employee must also maintain equipment and be responsive to dispatch communications.

Requirements

  • Current clinical Licensure as required by State.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to laboratory purposes.
  • Proficient in phlebotomy procedures and techniques, including venipuncture and site decontamination.
  • Knowledge of specimen preservation and patient preparation procedures.
  • Current and valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance.
  • Access to a vehicle in good working condition for daily driving requirements.
  • Good driving record.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and maintain accurate time sheet records.
  • Understanding of resident rights and patient care.
  • Ability to obtain blood specimens from patients under various conditions.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, patients, and staff.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to take directions and conduct oneself professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Drive personal vehicle to client facilities as directed.
  • Follow established phlebotomy procedures for obtaining blood samples.
  • Accurately identify patients according to phlebotomy identification policy.
  • Ensure specimens are properly labeled and accompanied by completed requisition forms.
  • Follow phlebotomy policy on transporting PHI.
  • Plan and organize draw schedule with attention to patient priority.
  • Complete written logs, time sheets, and other required records accurately.
  • Work cooperatively with dispatch, payroll, laboratory, and courier departments.
  • Maintain all equipment in good working order and report issues to the Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
  • Answer company-issued mobile device promptly and be ready to work when on duty.
  • Notify dispatch of availability for future assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
