About The Position

The Lead Messaging Engineer is primarily responsible for providing support, optimization, and management of Harris Health's hybrid messaging infrastructure and servers, including Exchange, Microsoft 365 (M365), e-Vault or other e-mail archiving, and IronPort spam/virus mitigation. This role involves the design, implementation, and support of our messaging infrastructure, ensuring efficient and secure communication across the organization. The Lead Messaging Engineer will enhance the email systems, manage large volumes of data, and oversee the integration and maintenance of messaging and archive solutions for compliance and data retention. Responsibilities also include managing assigned projects, resolving all work orders within prescribed service levels, achieving labor utilization goals, and maintaining a professional and courteous manner. The role includes on-site support and help desk support on a rotating schedule.

Requirements

• Microsoft Certified, 4 Year degree or equivalent work experience
• 8 Years supporting Messaging systems, Microsoft Exchange (2016 / 2019), M365, eMail Archiving, SMTP gateways, E-mail Spam and Virus Management
• 6 Years of experience supporting Server Infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Oversee the deployment, management, and optimization of Microsoft 365 email systems, including Exchange Online.
• Design and manage email archiving strategies and solutions, ensuring compliance with organizational and legal retention policies.
• Implement and manage archive policies within M365, and support solutions for data recovery, retention, and eDiscovery.
• Drive migrations to M365 and integrate third-party archiving solutions, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal downtime.
• Act as the go-to expert for troubleshooting complex issues related to messaging systems, including performance issues, mail flow problems, and archive access issues.
• Ensure security best practices and compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, PHI) are adhered to within the messaging and archiving environments.
• Leverage scripting tools (e.g., PowerShell) to automate tasks and improve operational efficiency for system management, monitoring, and reporting.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including security, compliance, service desk, and infrastructure teams, to align messaging and archiving solutions with broader organizational goals.
