About The Position

West Oaks Hospital has provided psychiatric care to the Houston area and surrounding communities for over four decades. Our 176-bed acute care facility is fully accredited and included a 16-bed residential treatment center for adult chemical dependency. We offer a broad range of behavioral health programs for children, adolescents and adults. Treatment is offered at multiple levels of care including inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist you and answer your questions about treatment options and insurance coverage. Visit us online at: https://westoakshospital.com/ West Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Lead Mental Health Technician to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. The Lead Mental Health Technician, under the direct supervision of the Milieu Manager, is responsible for providing both clerical support and patient care services in the treatment of individuals with psychiatric and substance use conditions. This role includes managing behavioral concerns, facilitating educational and activity groups, and actively engaging as a key member of the treatment team. In addition, the Lead Mental Health Technician serves in a leadership role for Mental Health Technicians, acting as an on-the-job (OJT) preceptor and assisting with guidance and training as directed by the Milieu Manager. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Education Required: High school diploma or GED.
  • Licensure and certification required: CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications. National Certified Psychiatric Technician certification Level 1-4
  • Experience Required: Three years of experience in direct patient care role in a psychiatric facility.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field.
  • Preferred: Three years of experience in a direct care role in a lead capacity.
