About The Position

Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is a non profit corporation that provides culturally sensitive health care to the American Indian population. OKCIC services not only include basic medical care, but also dental, optometry, behavioral health services, fitness, nutrition and other family programs. Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is hiring a Lead Medical Technologist to join our team! The Lead MT provides daily direction, recommendations, and supervision to other laboratory technical staff with regard to laboratory workload, staffing, policies, and procedures. The individual serves as a consultant for test performance and technical issues. The Lead Medical Technologist motivates, coordinates, and supports staff to ensure quality results are reported in a timely manner. The individual is responsible for fulfilling the duties of a General Lead Med Tech which also includes the technical, competency, quality assurance, and educational responsibilities The individual will assure that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications and that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly. In addition, the incumbent may be expected to specialize as a phlebotomy lead as needed.

Requirements

  • Must align with OKCIC vision, mission and core values.
  • Bachelor's Degree with accreditation from an accredited organization, such as AMT or ASCP.
  • Medical Technologist Certification from AMT or ASCP.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated training and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated skill with laboratory information systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated competency in providing care for all age groups, and knowledge of accreditation and regulation requirements related to work area.

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of RPMS strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy when required.
  • Collects and processes laboratory specimens as ordered by clinic provider staff
  • Performs Quality Control (QC) procedures on laboratory equipment according to clinic and manufacturer standards, policies and procedures
  • Logs incoming and outgoing lab results; maintains and retains records as required
  • Evaluates post analytical tests results, distributes test results appropriately and reports test results to medical staff as required
  • Assists in maintenance of lab supplies to ensure adequate supply is available. Notifies lab director of low stock. Processes orders of lab supplies on a monthly basis
  • Performs maintenance on instruments as required by manufacturer
  • Performs required quarterly proficiency testing
  • Performs duties of laboratory director when absent
