About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Director and Manager, the Lead Medical Technologist (Blood Bank/Hematology) is responsible for providing supervision of other professional and non-professional staff in the Laboratory. The Lead Medical Technologist (Blood Bank/Hematology) ensures staff delivers excellent patient care, customer service, and efficient and accurate analysis of specimens processed in the clinical laboratory. In the absence of the Laboratory Director and/or Laboratory Manager, the Lead Medical Technologist (Blood Bank/Hematology) is responsible for providing direction to personnel of the clinical laboratory.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related science from an accredited college or university.
• 3 – 5 years in clinical laboratory experience.
• ASCP or equivalent certification.
• Knowledge and skills to perform procedures in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology/Serology, Urinalysis, Limited Microbiology, point-of-care, Phlebotomy, and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision of other professional and non-professional staff in the Laboratory.
• Ensure staff delivers excellent patient care and customer service.
• Ensure efficient and accurate analysis of specimens processed in the clinical laboratory.
• Provide direction to personnel of the clinical laboratory in the absence of the Laboratory Director and/or Laboratory Manager.
