About the position

The Lead Medical Supply Technician (MST) in Sterile Processing is responsible for overseeing the decontamination, preparation, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment. This role requires expert knowledge in sterile processing and involves managing the workload among staff, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures, and providing training and guidance to less experienced team members. The position is critical in maintaining the quality and safety of medical supplies used in patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Distributes and prioritizes workload among employees according to established workflow and job specializations.
  • Revises work schedules to accommodate changes in workload.
  • Monitors and reports on the status of work to ensure compliance with SOPs and policies.
  • Instructs employees on work-related activities, policies, procedures, and goals.
  • Utilizes advanced functions of the instrument tracking system to manage reusable medical equipment (RME).
  • Assesses the quality and quantity of work by reviewing cleaning, reprocessing, and distribution of medical equipment.
  • Provides guidance and training to staff members with less experience.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Six months of experience in a related field or one year of education above high school in health care-related courses.
  • Ability to perform the work or provide an understanding of the work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a supervisory role overseeing a group of MSTs.
  • Knowledge of surgical instruments and universal precautions for safety.
  • Ability to lead individuals and manage priorities.
