Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met. Day-to-day lead and acts as the point person in the absence of a supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences required.
  • Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable.
  • If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
  • Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.
  • May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of laboratory related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect laboratory specimens, as needed.
  • Process lab specimens and perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate skill in use of equipment relevant to position.
  • Demonstrate critical and independent judgement in decision-making and problem solving.
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to the principles, values, and ethics of the organization to promote a positive work environment.
  • Seek personal learning opportunities.
  • Recognize safety hazards and comply with all safety practices and protocols.
  • Assists in the training and competency assessment of staff.
  • Serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel and collaborates with other departments across the enterprise.
  • Participate in validations, proficiency testing and evaluation and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Provide feedback for performance appraisals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • May be required to travel to other locations.
