Lead, Medical Education & Funding Location: Philadelphia, PA, Upper Providence, PA, or Durham, NC. Lead the enterprise management and execution of all HCRO funding (including IME) across USMA and external partners, translating therapeutic-area strategies into high‑integrity grants, sponsorships, and other funding mechanisms while driving funding excellence and cross-organizational alignment. Ensure executional excellence and compliance with GSK policy and external standards (OIG, FDA, PhRMA, ACCME) by overseeing Smartsheet/GMS/third‑party platforms, payment services, data interfaces, external web/email channels, and transparent statutory reporting. Serve as a medical grant steward and matrix business partner—advising therapeutic areas on innovative, outcomes‑focused proposals; leading a team of medical reviewers/approvers and serve on enterprise grant committees; driving process simplification, technical consultation, and a high‑performing team to optimize resource allocation and delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Health Sciences, Communications, Business, or related field required.
  • Eight or more years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry .
  • Two or more years of experience in leadership/complex program management roles.
  • Three or more years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry experience with HCRO funding experience.

Nice To Haves

  • MS or PhD. Degree in related field.
  • Four or more years of experience in leadership/complex program management roles.
  • Five or more years of HCRO funding experience.

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise management of all HCRO funding between USMA and key external organizations – driving execution excellence on behalf of TA strategies.
  • Accountable for HCRO funding execution, collaborating and aligning with the broader organization on significant gaps and systematic approaches to overcome barriers to improvement.
  • Partner with TAs to identify/recommend and then subsequently execute high-integrity and quality medical education proposals & sponsorships, incorporating innovative approaches to address healthcare gaps and quality/performance improvement opportunities.
  • Serve as a grant approver by proxy on behalf of TA and medical business leader on enterprise-wide business unit grant committees.
  • Ensure that all HCRO funding, including IME and non-IME grants meet GSK policies/guidelines and comply with standards from OIG, FDA, PhRMA Code, ACCME, and other accrediting bodies.
  • Oversee successful execution, continuous management, and support of the enterprise-wide systems for managing overall HCRO funding, including Smartsheet, Grant Management System, and any associated third-party outsourcing.
  • Manage HCRO payment services including procurement, GMS payment services, work with USMA platforms to resolve technical issues, and oversee data interfaces integral to HCRO funding and reporting.
  • Manage all HCRO related website content (GSK Grants) and email accounts
  • Lead process improvement and simplification efforts regarding complex HCRO Funding-related initiatives with cross-functional teams within USMA and the GSK enterprise.
  • Consult on technical and complex issues arising from funding-related business processes across USMA and the enterprise.
  • Ensure complete and accurate grant data reporting to comply with GSK voluntary transparency and statutory requirements.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high performing team; set clear goals and optimize resource allocation across therapeutic areas and funding types.
