About The Position

The Lead Medical Assistant (MA I) plays a crucial role in coordinating patient care within a community health setting. This position involves leading a team of medical assistants, providing training and support, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care under the supervision of the Health Center Manager. The Lead MA is responsible for overseeing daily operations, improving efficiency, and maintaining compliance with healthcare standards.

Requirements

  • Completion of Medical Assistant program required.
  • Current certification from a recognized medical assistant association.
  • Demonstrated venipuncture skills with blood draws from at least 150 patients in the past 6 months.
  • Completion of MA Epic superuser training.
  • 2.5 years of experience in an Ambulatory Care setting.
  • Competent in MA-II and MA-III core skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Continuous Quality Improvement plans.
  • Knowledge of health coaching and medication reconciliation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary provider teams to deliver excellent patient care.
  • Lead and train a team of medical assistants, providing feedback and support.
  • Develop and maintain staff work schedules in collaboration with the Health Center Manager.
  • Direct patient flows and monitor efficiency in patient cycle times.
  • Conduct daily team huddles and oversee supply inventories.
  • Review and approve time sheets for team members.
  • Coordinate and conduct training for new hires and externs.
  • Provide constructive feedback to improve team performance and quality of care.
  • Perform and document diabetic foot exams and other clinical tasks.
  • Assist with audit preparation and quality assurance processes.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and communicate effectively with patients and staff.
