About The Position

The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties, which include assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), performs venipuncture and procedures as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State. Documentation is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guideline. Prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. Assists in covering the front desk as required. Assists the Practice Manager in leading the clinic to deliver high-quality quality effective care. Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics that align with UHS acute care facilities. It also provides select services for the Behavioral Health division of UHS. Through continuing growth, IPM operates in 12 markets across six states and the District of Columbia. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Certified Medical Assistant Program completion
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Fluency with medical terminology is required.
  • Experience with the patient check-in and check-out process
  • General office procedures
  • Understand end-of-day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol)
  • Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions.
  • Must be able to remain calm and focused in an emergency
  • Must be able to see with corrective eyewear
  • Must be able to hear clearly with assistance

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
