About The Position

The Lead Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for planning and organizing maintenance work, assigning tasks to technicians, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. This role involves performing preventive maintenance and machine repairs, training new employees, and leading a team to achieve production and quality objectives in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a maintenance environment in a similar or related technical position.
  • Minimum high school education with technical training certification in electrical, machine or multi-craft maintenance or 5 years of maintenance related experience.
  • Demonstrated success in training and leading a team of employees in a manufacturing setting.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to process data in the production area.
  • Ability to complete tasks with or without supervision.
  • Strong written communication skills with an emphasis on technical documents and records.
  • Intermediate math and advanced problem solving skills.
  • Ability to follow and enforce GMP and SOP guidelines.
  • Ability to give detailed instructions for staff to perform daily tasks.
  • Strong Mechanical/Electrical aptitude.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to wear any required PPE.
  • Ability to work in a packaging area with a moderate powder substance in the air with or without a respirator.
  • Ability to work around a variation of different smells and aromas.
  • Other physical requirements include bi-lateral hand and wrist movement and occasional squatting, bending, and twisting.
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work and assign technicians in a prioritized manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and machine repair duties according to service manuals and factory guidelines.
  • Assist with training new employees in maintenance processes and troubleshooting.
  • Provide direction and encouragement to staff, assigning daily tasks and monitoring performance.
  • Conduct in-depth problem solving of maintenance tasks and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Encourage and lead by example in 5-S implementation and ongoing requirements.
  • Provide backup for Maintenance Manager or Engineering Manager in their absence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
