About The Position

Support design development, implementation, and design validation for a wide range of energy storage power conversion and UPS products. Responsible for design for manufacturing, design for service and supporting the commissioning and support of energy transition products in the field along with contributing to the platforming of development of those products particularly at the power system level. Understand customer requirements affecting product development, perform requirement drill down from system to subsystem including power modules, switch gear, thermals. Lead engineering resources both locally and globally to develop and launch NPI projects according to project requirements including schedule and cost. Interface with organizational counterparts in operations, service, and sales to drive designs towards shared goals. Lead technical projects. Train and mentor mechanical team members to ensure long term capability and skill development. Work with other project engineers to define and breakdown scope of work. Facilitate technical meetings and drive adherence to technical project schedule. Establish mechanical architecture of power conversion and distribution systems, working with Electrical, and Firmware Engineers to develop a complete system. Work with Program Managers serving as primary mechanical technical interface between customer, and global design/manufacturing team. Perform mechanical systems engineering tasks including customer and technical requirements development, perform requirement drill down from system to subsystem including power modules, switch gear, system performance prediction, thermal and mechanical design, and review verification and validation. Develop product configuration charts for the product/ project, new product assemblies and their bill of material.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a directly related field plus seven (7) years of experience in an electrical product development company.
  • Will accept a Master’s degree plus four (4) years of experience in an electrical product development company in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus seven (7) years of experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently): Electrical/mechanical product development (low voltage motor controller, UPS, DC charging, or BESS) 3D CAD modeling tools (Creo, Solidworks, NX, or Catia) Developing electrical systems
  • One (1) year of experience in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently): Working in cross functional team environment
  • Evaluating and designing system architectural considerations involving electrical, software, and mechanical cross-disciplinary principles
