About The Position

Participates in the design of detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment installations, and mechanical systems installations. Engineer applies basic engineering design and/or analytical theory with understanding of structural analysis for application to integrated system design. Engineer will be responsible for research, development of layouts, preparation of engineering drawings, and coordination of design activities with Tooling, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost. Designs will be accomplished using world-class, three-dimensional solid modeling CAD tools and work will be accomplished with senior-level design engineers. Mechanical design engineers have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of tasks and aircraft systems on various aircraft platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Aerospace / Mechanical Engineering, or similar with 9 years of related experience or Masters Degree with 7 years of related experience, In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum 6 months experience running total lifecycle of programs including proposals, bids, planning, assessing/managing risk, and execution.
  • Minimum 4 years aircraft design related experience.

  • Understanding of aircraft systems.
  • Understanding of various mission systems.
  • Influential leader with good emotional intelligence and ability to coach and develop.
  • Interpersonal skills: Engaging communicator, strong collaboration, patience, and open minded.
  • Task Lead or Product Lead experience especially on large prototype programs.
  • Outstanding communication (both verbally and written), negotiation, collaboration, time management, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with FAA (Part 23 and 25) and military aircraft airworthiness design approach, certification process, and requirements.
  • Knowledge of manpower planning, milestone scheduling, and related financial management.
  • Formulate strategic vision, define implementation plan of action to achieve success.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products to include, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.

  • Ensure proposals are vetted for accuracy in cost, scope, and schedule.
  • Ensure programs are accomplished on schedule and within budget while complying with process/procedures and program requirements.
  • Provides input into new products, processes, standards and/or operational plans that will have measurable impact on the achievement of overall function or business results.
  • Ensure program airworthiness, customer, and company requirements are understood and met.
  • Capable of managing and working in an environment that is fast paced, demanding, with a focus on problem resolution and process improvement.
  • Capable of influencing a wide range of audience, and having demonstrated leadership skills to win support without direct reporting structure.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret with SCI security clearance.
