PAE is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to manage project teams, oversee discipline-specific design work, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. This role is responsible for producing high quality technical deliverables including narratives, calculations, drawings, and specifications while coordinating closely with internal and external partners. The position requires strong expertise in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and energy modeling, along with the ability to apply engineering judgment from concept through construction. Additional responsibilities include mentoring staff, performing site visits, improving company standards, developing client relationships, and upholding the project quality management plan. Qualified candidates should have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, bring 5-10 years of relevant experience, including 2-4 years in a lead role, along with proven leadership, advanced technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with Revit or AutoCAD. A PE credential is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Project team leadership and discipline management, responsible for completing the project on time within budget
  • Responsible for the preparation of deliverable documents including narratives, calculations, drawings and specifications
  • Attend client meetings, lead the coordination effort between external and internal project teams
  • Independently evaluate and apply engineering judgment, techniques, and procedures to complete a project from concepts through construction
  • Proficient in mechanical system design, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Energy Modeling
  • Assemble effective project teams
  • Develop project workplans, tasks and assignments for the team
  • Thorough understanding of interdisciplinary coordination
  • Advanced understanding of the application of building codes and mechanical industry standards
  • Oversee engineering calculations and equipment selection
  • Perform site visits and issues reports
  • Provide training, guidance and mentorship for staff
  • Provide updates to master specifications and standards, and improve company processes
  • Develop client relationships
  • Oversee the application of the project quality management plan (QMP)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
