You will report directly to our Mechanical Design Engineering Manager of the Installation and Externals group within the Engines and Power Systems organization and will work out of our Phoenix, Arizona location on a hybrid work schedule Honeywell Aerospace Technologies (AT) products and services are found on virtually every commercial, defense, and space aircraft in the world. We build aircraft engines, cockpit and cabin electronics, wireless connectivity systems, mechanical components, and more, and connect many of them via our high-speed Wi-Fi offerings. Our solutions create healthier air travel, more fuel-efficient and better-maintained aircraft, more direct and on-time flight arrivals, safer skies and airports, and more comfortable flights, along with several innovations and services that reflect exciting and emerging new transportation methods such as autonomous and supersonic flight. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Imagine, design and develop products and systems as part of a highly engaged and integrated engineering team. You will collaborate across Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams to create solutions and systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will participate in all phases of product development and will be a coach and mentor to less experienced engineers. Leads world-class project teams to establish effective solutions to complex engineering problems. Improve the world by leading teams that develop modern solutions to complex problems.

Requirements

• YOU MUST HAVE
• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or mechanical engineering
• 8 plus years’ of industry design experience in the aerospace sector developing either gas turbine engines (APUs, turboshafts, turbofans or turboprops) or rocket engines (solid or liquid propulsion), or their associated systems (Core propulsion, externals or installations)
• Demonstrated proficiency using Siemens NX CAD software in 3D modeling & 2D drafting applications
• Demonstrated proficiency creating & releasing 2D drawings, including: View creation, dimensioning & tolerancing and drawing notes
• Working knowledge of Teamcenter
• Fundamental understanding of ASME Y14.5-2009 GD&T principles, including: Datum structures, Profile tolerances, positional tolerances, machining symbology and tolerances of mating parts
• Ability to perform 2D tolerance stack analyses
• Experience supporting structured design reviews (CDR, PDR, DDR, etc.)
• Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

• Experience in design of aerospace propulsion systems’ installations & externals, including: Plumbing systems, Electrical harnesses, LRU component placement/integration, ducts/venting layouts, anti-icing systems, lubrication systems, fuel systems, fire detection systems, mounts, gearboxes and vehicle installation concepts
• Fundamental understanding of overall gas turbine engine operations and/or individual engine modules, for example: Inlet/AGB, Compressor, Combustor, Exhaust or Mechanical Systems
• Experience with metallic or non-metallic Additive Manufacturing (AM) design, theory or fabrication
• Understanding of Requirements Based Engineering (RBE) with a baseline understanding of requirements decomposition, definition, verification & validation
• Experience compiling system-level Bill of Materials (BOM), Parts Lists (PL) and Weight reports
• Fundamental understanding of relative characteristics of various aerospace-grade materials, including Stainless steels, Nickel alloys, heat-resistant coatings, abrasion-resistant coatings and lubricants
• Fundamental understanding of aerospace-grade fasteners and joints, including: Bolts/screws, rivets, inserts, spacers, washers, nuts, spherical bearings, plain bearings, clamps, metallic seals and non-metallic seals
• Fundamental understanding of aerospace machining, fabrication and inspection methods, including: Metal machining/casting/forging/additive manufacturing, part testing methodology/terminology and basic quality control principles
• A proactive approach towards solving problems, independently seeking inputs and driving solution concepts with limited guidance from technical supervisors
• Understanding of technology readiness levels (TRL) and technology maturity levels (MRL)
• Ability to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for topic and audience
• Ability to consistently make timely, informed engineering decisions in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness
• Ability to prepare and present technical material to a variety of audiences, including technical peers, technical supervisors and leadership representatives
• Experience working within Agile methodology/JIRA and participating in Sprints/Stand-Ups
• Strong ability to mentor and coach peers in a formal or informal capacity
• Ability to multi-task by prioritizing work in terms of customer needs, schedules, available bandwidth, known blockers and other factors
