This position is contingent upon contract award. The Lead Mechanic will provide on-site supervision of all other Mechanics. Responsibilities include servicing and repairing the craft and trailers, including light surface craft, Jet Ski’s, and various models of inboard and outboard motors. The Lead Mechanic will also service, repair, test, and inspect trailers associated with transporting boats and watercraft. When required, the Lead Mechanic shall accompany a craft operations team during testing, evaluation and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, steering systems, and onboard equipment. Additionally, the Lead Maritime Mechanic shall provide on-the-job training (OJT) instruction to entry level military and civilian mechanics to ensure that maintenance and repairs are properly addressed.

  • Oversee and conduct repairs and maintenance for the fleet, including engines, hulls, and electrical systems, ensuring adherence to OEM guidelines and NAVOSH safety standards.
  • Perform operational and functional testing of watercraft post-repair to confirm readiness and reliability.
  • Manage the dispatching of watercraft, ensuring logistical support aligns with operational requirements.
  • Provide on-the-job training (OJT) and instruction to junior mechanics, enhancing team skill levels and ensuring quality maintenance practices are consistently applied.
  • Maintain comprehensive maintenance records for each watercraft, ensuring documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Serve as the primary technical advisor to EODGRU ONE on matters related to watercraft maintenance and readiness.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) certified mechanic specializing in commercial inboard/outboard two and four-stroke marine gas and diesel engines, including waterjets.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in hull repair for both aluminum and glass-reinforced plastic (GRP).
  • OEM certifications for inboard/outboard engines and any relevant certifications for hull repair and engine maintenance.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and steering systems, along with demonstrated ability to perform both minor and major repairs.
  • Knowledge of requisitioning procedures and warehouse operations.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 applications for reporting and communication purposes.
  • Eligibility to obtain the appropriate level of security clearance if required for specific tasks or locations.
