About The Position

The Lead Marketing Strategist at Christ’s Church of the Valley (CCV) plays a crucial role in shaping the voice, visibility, and impact of one of the largest and fastest-growing churches in the country. This role is equal parts strategist, team developer, project driver, creative thought partner, and cross-ministry collaborator. You will help guide the marketing department’s day-to-day execution while influencing long-range initiatives that move the mission of CCV forward. This position requires a leader who thrives in a dynamic, multi-campus environment, balancing high-level strategy with hands-on execution across digital, social, community, and traditional marketing channels. The Lead Marketing Strategist partners closely with ministry leaders, creative teams, project managers, outside vendors, and agency partners to build campaigns, develop content, and align communications to CCV’s mission of winning people to Christ, building them up in Christ, and sending them out for Christ.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in marketing strategy, project management, or multi-channel campaign leadership.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with experience developing high-capacity staff or volunteers.
  • Deep understanding of social media, digital marketing, and paid advertising.
  • Comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Creative thinker with strong strategic instincts.
  • Strong copywriting skills across digital, print, video, and storytelling formats.
  • Experience with HubSpot for email marketing, landing pages, workflows, and campaign analytics.
  • Experience managing website content, CMS workflows, and user-focused messaging.
  • Experience writing scripts for video, announcements, and promotional content.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor, equip, and develop marketing team members, creating a culture of clarity, excellence, and ownership.
  • Champion a collaborative team environment that values innovation, accountable execution, and personal growth.
  • Help shape and reinforce healthy team rhythms, boundaries, and communication patterns.
  • Develop full-funnel marketing strategies across social, digital, email, paid media, SEO, out-of-home, and traditional channels.
  • Leverage HubSpot to support email marketing strategy, landing page creation, audience segmentation, and campaign optimization.
  • Maintain an informed understanding of industry trends while keeping a pulse on church-specific communication best practices.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of “big C” church marketing—ensuring CCV remains a leader, not a follower.
  • Lead app promo strategy including feature awareness, engagement campaigns, and cross-channel promotion.
  • Manage website content updates, structure, messaging alignment, and ongoing content improvements.
  • Architect and oversee social strategies that engage our communities, elevate ministry stories, support campuses, and reflect CCV’s personality.
  • Partner with social creators and community managers to ensure content aligns with brand guidelines, church mission, and platform best practices.
  • Lead strategy and budget management for paid social, search, display, OOH, and traditional media buys.
  • Evaluate campaign KPIs, optimize for ROI, and deliver measurable growth across awareness, engagement, and ministry participation.
  • Manage vendor relationships and external media partners to ensure high-quality execution.
  • Collaborate with ministry, campus, and central teams to build strategic campaigns that support baptisms, events, classes, outreach initiatives, giving seasons, and more.
  • Ensure each campaign communicates clearly, meets ministry objectives, and aligns with CCV’s overall marketing calendar and messaging pillars.
  • Own and execute the annual master marketing calendar, ensuring alignment across ministries, strategic timing, and long-range planning.
  • Work closely with project managers to shepherd initiatives from ideation through delivery.
  • Help define goals, deliverables, timelines, and creative needs for campaigns and asset packages.
  • Ensure all work is delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with quality expectations.
  • Interface daily with the Creative Team—casting vision, shaping briefs, and ensuring assets support the strategy.
  • Champion CCV’s brand voice, visual identity, and storytelling approach.
  • Encourage bold creative thinking that supports clarity, mission, and impact.
  • Write scripts for videos, announcements, campaigns, and key church moments to ensure message clarity and emotional resonance.
  • Help build and maintain internal communication rhythms that keep staff, campuses, and leaders informed of upcoming events, strategies, and key pivots.
  • Ensure clarity between central marketing and distributed ministry teams.
  • Source, evaluate, and oversee outside creative vendors, contractors, and production partners.
  • Ensure all outsourced work aligns with CCV’s standards and integrates smoothly into internal workflows.
  • Support PR efforts including message development, media relationships, press coordination, and reputation management.
  • Contribute to strategies that enhance CCV’s presence in the broader Phoenix and global church community.
  • Partner with the VA team to scout, recruit, and develop volunteers for content capture, community engagement, social support, and event coverage.
  • Build clear processes for training, quality expectations, and ongoing involvement.
