POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Technologist will be responsible for assisting the Center Manager with the overall leadership and direction of the breast center, while ensuring high image quality and successful completion of exams. Along with staffing and quality and performance improvement efforts, the Lead Technologist will serve as an internal imaging expert for the center. Shift Details - M - F / 7:30a - 4:30p

Requirements

Graduate of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology
ARRT certification in radiography
ARRT advanced certification in mammography
BLS CPR
3+ years mammography experience required
Diagnostic experience required
Computer literate
Ability to read and interpret medical reports, extract pertinent information from them and present that information in a concise and appropriate manner
Anatomic knowledge of breast tissue pattern and related structures as well as breast pathology and treatment of breast pathology
Knowledge of radiographic technique and positioning.
Knowledge of ultrasound positioning and anatomy
Intimate knowledge of clinical site procedure and workflow as well as knowledge of departmental needs for smooth day to day operations
Excellent communication skills
Excellent customer service, both internal and external
Walking and standing for long periods of time
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Self-motivator, ability to multi-task, detail oriented, high level of confidentiality, comfortable with multiple computer applications, willingness to work in fast paced environment

Responsibilities

Acts as on-site leadership in absence of center manager, helping to manage center activities
Operate mammographic and other imaging equipment/devices in accordance with organizational protocols
Position patients, using immobilization when necessary
Evaluate radiographs for image quality, adjusting position, density, or contrast and obtaining additional images as needed
Evaluate and present images to radiologists and perform additional post presentation images and/or diagnostic procedures, including ultrasound, core biopsy, and needle localization
Prepare exam/procedure rooms and equipment for studies, ensuring cleanliness and adequate stock/inventory of clinical supplies
Obtain, verify, and document all pertinent information for patient visits and procedures, including patient clinical history, prior imaging, orders, lab work, and authorization confirmation
Identify care requirements relative to each patient’s age-specific needs
Explain exams and procedures to patients
Provide post procedural care information and follow up instructions as directed radiologists
Use radiation safety measures and protective devices to comply with government regulations and ensure the safety of patients and staff
Assist with onboarding and training new Mammography Technician I’s and II’s
Other duties as assigned
