About The Position

The Lead Mammography Technologist will: Assist the Manager in performing administrative duties as assigned and provides leadership to the Mammography and Ultrasound technical staff on a daily basis. Ensures proper staffing of the section. Participate in the budgetary process. When required assists with scheduling all breast procedures and coordinating wire localizations schedule with operating room staff. Assure all aspects of the Mammography Quality Control and Assurance Programs are performed according to the MQSA and ACR standards. Performs and/or assures all required quality control procedures on the mammography equipment are completed according to the standards and guidelines set by the MQSA and ACR and documented accurately. Performs and/or assures daily quality control procedures on the stereotactic biopsy equipment, documents any abnormal findings. Accurately prepares all documentation as required for annual MQSA inspection and ACR Accreditation process Arranges service on the equipment when necessary. Perform all screening and diagnostic mammograms, and interventional breast procedures. Display technical competence to perform screening mammograms without the direct supervision of a radiologists at time of exam. Prepare patient for diagnostic and interventional mammography procedures, Ensures existence of physician's order for mammography procedures. Ensure proper patient identity before performing procedures in accordance with established hospital policies. Collects and documents all pertinent medical history in patient's record. Be responsible for orienting and training technical staff in accordance with defined standards and protocols. Acts as a clinical resource for all staff.

Requirements

  • Requires a current NJ license to practice Radiologic Technology.
  • Current ARRT registration in mammography.
  • Three (3) years of supervisor experience preferred.
  • Requires a working knowledge of routine and interventional mammography and computer technology normally found in a Radiology Department.
  • Requires a working knowledge of all aspects of the MQSA and ACR accreditation process.
  • Possesses the sensitivity and skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, Hospital employees and students.
  • Possesses good reading and deductive skills in order to ascertain physician's request and solve problems.
  • Possesses the ability to think and move quickly in order to deliver quality and efficient patient care.
