About The Position

This position will reside at the Kings Lake Camp Site which means Free housing & meals - no rent, no grocery bills! Provides leadership and care for a group of approximately 6-10 campers and assumes responsibility for their safety, health, and program involvement. Utilize all camp resources to guide campers through a positive camping experience in harmony with the goals and objectives of King's Lake Camp. This position pays $11.20 per hour, travel and room & board covered. This position pays $448.00 weekly, room and board as well as a onetime to and from camp travel expense.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 year of age.
  • Must pass all background checks required by The Salvation Army
  • Demonstrated ability to work with young people ages 7 years old and older.
  • Must perform duties efficiently and demonstrate good judgment.
  • Room and Board is provided as Camp Counselor must be able to stay at camp while camp is in session.
  • One time Travel expense to and from camp covered
  • Must complete the online course for this area and pass the Background Checks required by The Salvation Army for employment.
  • Must be able to understand, follow and give both written and oral instructions and be comfortable working with diverse individuals in face-to-face contact and over the telephone.
  • The employee must be able to use speech and hearing for ordinary and telephone conversation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance to counselors
  • Provide leadership and care for a group of approximately 6-10 campers.
  • Provide care and guidance through all program components for assigned camper groups.
  • Provide supervision for assigned groups during all meal times.
  • Provide direction and supervision for the daily clean-up of the cabin living area.
  • Conduct group devotions for camper groups every day at designated time.
  • Accompany assigned groups to all camp-related activities.
  • Complete forms related to campers, program evaluation, or health documentation.
  • Assist in all camp program activities as directed.
  • Attend and participate in camp programs.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual formation of campers and staff.
  • Ensure campers respect personal property, camp equipment and facilities.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff, volunteers, and campers.
  • Ensure campers adhere to camp and Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Ensure and provide supervision and physical/emotional safety for campers and staff.
  • Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and living quarters.
  • Assists in clean-up of the camp at the end of sessions/summer.
  • Assists with all other duties as assigned.
