The position involves performing routine and extensive work in the repair and general maintenance of facilities and equipment within established guidelines, policies, and procedures. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of various maintenance tasks and the ability to develop effective relationships with residents, staff, and vendors.

  • Perform minor building, ventilation/air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and other maintenance work as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, administration, and other service providers.
  • Identify larger maintenance projects that need to be contracted to vendors and work with the Director of Residential Programs to obtain proposals, select the vendor, coordinate work, and supervise vendors.
  • Perform regular inspections per regulatory guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot, service, and report mechanical malfunctions.
  • Maintain inventory of repair equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Maintain a schedule and perform all regular preventive maintenance on the campus and vehicles.
  • Comply with safety regulations by reporting and removing safety hazards.
  • Respond to emergency calls during and after hours.
  • Move and assist in the transportation of furniture and equipment.
  • Set up and break down equipment and furniture for functions.
  • Conduct all essential functions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in training employees on simple home maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to communicate both in person and digitally or in writing.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to take responsibility for challenges.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Experience working with industrial tools and equipment.
  • Experience in building and grounds maintenance work.
  • 3+ years of related experience in a non-profit environment.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant combination of education/experience.
