About The Position

The Lead Maintenance Technician at the Houston Housing Authority (HHA) will be an integral part of the Real Estate Investment & Development (REID) Department, providing building facilities and property maintenance support.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Lead Technician or Maintenance roles
  • Proficiency in using relevant tools and equipment.
  • Leadership and team management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and codes.
  • High School Diploma.
  • 3-5 years of facilities maintenance or mechanical repair.
  • Proficiency with a variety of tools and equipment used in facility maintenance.
  • Strong time-management and people skills, high degree of flexibility, and excellent multitasking ability.
  • Knowledge of specific trade skills, such as electrical, plumbing, or HVAC.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of company information.
  • Strong problem – solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Eligibility for coverage under Houston Housing Authority fleet auto insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Complete property maintenance requests that consist of hands on repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC), equipment upkeep, and safety inspections.
  • Lead a team of maintenance technicians while providing daily support ensuring timely completion of maintenance requests.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential issues and proactively schedule necessary repairs.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, regulations and safety standards.
  • Conduct property site walks inside and outside all property and/or HHA building facilities.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs with vendors, ensuring quality and timely completion.
  • Collaborate with the HHA engineering team on projects and complex technical tasks
  • Create work schedules, assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Perform complex repairs and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems and ensure equipment is functioning correctly
  • All other duties assigned.
