CP&P is seeking an experienced Lead Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for our Charleston, SC pipe plant. In this role, you’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This role ensures production equipment operates reliably and meets quality standards in a concrete pipe and precast manufacturing environment.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical environment
- Excellent mechanical skills and hands-on troubleshooting ability
- Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Familiarity with welding, rigging, and machine alignment
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Comfortable working in industrial or high-noise environments
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work at heights or in confined spaces
- Teamwork and communication skills
- High school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and reliable transportation
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a millwright apprenticeship program or trade school
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA 10/30, forklift, or welding (a plus)
Responsibilities
- Install, align, and dismantle industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
- Inspect and troubleshoot machines, including pumps, conveyors, compressors, and turbines
- Perform regular preventive maintenance to minimize machine downtime
- Read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and manuals
- Operate hoists, cranes, and hand tools to move and adjust equipment
- Weld, fabricate, and assemble components when needed
- Maintain documentation of repairs and maintenance work
- Comply with all safety regulations and OSHA standards
- Work with engineers and electricians to complete projects and repairs
