CP&P is seeking an experienced Lead Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for our Charleston, SC pipe plant. In this role, you’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This role ensures production equipment operates reliably and meets quality standards in a concrete pipe and precast manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical environment
  • Excellent mechanical skills and hands-on troubleshooting ability
  • Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with welding, rigging, and machine alignment
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
  • Comfortable working in industrial or high-noise environments
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work at heights or in confined spaces
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • High school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and reliable transportation
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a millwright apprenticeship program or trade school
  • Relevant certifications such as OSHA 10/30, forklift, or welding (a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Install, align, and dismantle industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Inspect and troubleshoot machines, including pumps, conveyors, compressors, and turbines
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance to minimize machine downtime
  • Read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and manuals
  • Operate hoists, cranes, and hand tools to move and adjust equipment
  • Weld, fabricate, and assemble components when needed
  • Maintain documentation of repairs and maintenance work
  • Comply with all safety regulations and OSHA standards
  • Work with engineers and electricians to complete projects and repairs
