About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Lead Industrial Maintenance Technician to serve as the hands-on technical leader for a premier high-volume industrial packaging and specialty decoration manufacturer. This facility provides high-end, multi-stage branding and finishing solutions for some of the world’s most recognized consumer product labels. This is a working lead role—you will spend the majority of your time with tools in hand while simultaneously coordinating daily maintenance activities and mentoring a team of technicians. You will be the primary point of accountability for equipment uptime, serving as the go-to expert for complex troubleshooting across a specialized production environment that includes thermal processing units, high-speed automated printing, robotics, and advanced vision systems.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Electrical Skills: Strong diagnostics of single and three-phase power (120V–480V) and 24VDC control systems.
  • Mechanical Mastery: Proficiency with gearboxes, motors, conveyors, and pneumatic actuators.
  • Schematics: Advanced ability to read and interpret technical manuals, electrical diagrams, and mechanical prints.
  • Leadership Ability: Proven capability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Communication: Ability to convey complex technical information clearly to both operators and plant leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Lead Experience: Prior experience coordinating, scheduling, or mentoring other maintenance personnel.
  • Robotics/Controls: Experience with Fanuc/ABB robotics and PLC troubleshooting/basic programming.
  • Fabrication: Proficiency in welding (MIG, Stick, or TIG) and using shop tools like surface grinders.
  • Industry Context: Previous experience in specialized packaging, high-speed printing, or thermal processing environments.
  • Certifications: Technical degree in Mechatronics/Industrial Maintenance or active Forklift/Boom lift certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Coordination – Prioritize and assign daily work orders based on production criticality; serve as the primary escalation point for complex mechanical and electrical failures.
  • Team Mentorship – Develop junior technicians through hands-on training, knowledge sharing, and skills assessment to elevate the department's overall technical capability.
  • Preventive Maintenance Excellence – Own the PM schedule; ensure all inspections and scheduled services are completed on time, documented accurately, and continuously improved to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting – Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical (120V–480V), pneumatic, and control systems.
  • Specialized Equipment Repair – Maintain and service conveyor systems, high-speed printing presses, pallet wrappers, and industrial thermal/gas-fired processing equipment.
  • Robotics & Automation – Support the operation, programming, and troubleshooting of industrial robots (Fanuc/ABB) and servo-driven motion systems.
  • Vision & Inspection Systems – Maintain and calibrate high-precision vision systems (Keyence) and sensors used for quality and alignment.
  • Root Cause Analysis – Lead efforts to identify recurring equipment failures, implementing long-term corrective actions rather than temporary fixes.
  • Inventory & Logistics – Assist with spare parts management and identify critical components to maintain on-hand to ensure rapid repair turnarounds.
  • Safety & Compliance – Enforce all safety protocols (LOTO), maintain a clean and organized shop, and uphold quality standards in a premium manufacturing environment.
