Summary: The Lead Maintenance Technician supports the maintenance and facility management team to ensure the preventive and corrective maintenance programs are functioning effectively and within compliance in order to meet plant objectives for safety, quality, and capacity. Support plant production through troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs of manufacturing equipment and fixtures through preventive maintenance procedures and root cause diagnosis. The Lead Maintenance Technician follows strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cGMP's in a Medical Device Manufacturing facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience in facility/manufacturing/production maintenance required.
  • Mechanical Maintenance knowledge such as pneumatics, pumps, valves, cylinders, labeling equipment, conveyors, and continuous inkjet printers required.
  • Electrical working knowledge and experience with AC/DC motors and drives, electrical systems up to 480V 3-phase, relays, switches, photo eyes/sensors, valves, switches, temperature controllers and servo motors is a plus.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Maximo preferred.
  • Candidate must be capable of reading electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and part diagrams.
  • The individual should be able to identify errors or faults in process and recommend or implement solutions.
  • Must be self-directed and motivated to complete repetitive tasks.
  • Sensitivity to confidential information is required.
  • The incumbent must work in a clean room environment wearing special garments. Additionally, personal protective equipment must be worn due to safety requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and specialized software in related field.
  • Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize workflow and handle multiple activities.
  • Duties may require overtime work, including nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to carry and climb 10 ft. ladders.
  • Must be able to stand and work at two hour minimum intervals.
  • Must be able to work in tight spaces.
  • Position requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • High-speed manufacturing/packaging equipment and high speed automated filling systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and issues preventive maintenance assignments for maintenance and facilities personnel.
  • Responsible for the on-time performance (completion/closure) of all preventive maintenance activities within the site.
  • Tracks preventative maintenance and maintains record of maintenance activities to manufacturing and facility equipment per Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Support maintenance, facilities, and engineering activities including 3rd party maintenance support, machine shop and fabrication, facility maintenance and capital improvements.
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to colleagues, internal customers, and management.
  • Resolves issues related to equipment, process, facilities, and compliance; Performs unscheduled maintenance (i.e. Demand Maintenance) and respond to trouble calls in a timely manner (i.e. Radio calls, P911).
  • Leads Maintenance and Facilities Tier meetings and shift pass-downs to ensure coordination and tracking of activities/issues and EHS Benchmark tasks (Hazard IDs and Action Tracking System), including escalations to area leaders.
  • Operates and maintains the CMMS system (Maximo) and associated databases, works closely with Maximo Administrator by acting as the site subject matter expert to purchase/order, inventory, and manage spare parts program.
  • Plans and manages ordering of repair parts through 3rd party machine shops, fabricators, or suppliers.
  • Strict adherence to safety and manufacturing SOP, policies, and procedures to ensure safe and quality products are produced at all times.
  • Support planning, scheduling (interval and external), and execution of the site shutdown activities, including coordinating contract and 3rd party suppliers for maintenance and facilities.
  • Assist in executing facility programs including: EHS, pest control, cleaning, security, fire system, energy, landscaping, and utilities.
  • Flexible hours on Saturdays and Sundays depending on job needs.
