About The Position

The Lead Maintenance Mechanic oversees the performance of scheduled maintenance to all mechanical Real Property Installed Equipment (RPIE) and provides professional “on-the-job training” to those assigned to the mechanical work center. This role is also responsible for the cleanliness of all assigned spaces and performs other duties as assigned according to personal qualifications. Key duties include making job assignments, researching and requisitioning materials, preparing necessary documents and reports, scheduling work for the mechanical team, and conducting quality assurance inspections through job site visits. The work involves installing, modifying, or repairing a variety of mechanical equipment such as pumps, air compressors, valves, sanitary system components, and heat exchangers. The mechanic will work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in mechanical systems or equipment, utilizing various hand tools, measuring, and testing instruments. This position assists in the supervision and performance of all phases of facility maintenance, installations, repairs, and modifications to structural, electrical, mechanical, water supply, steam, drain, pneumatic, and HVAC systems, along with their associated equipment and hardware. The role requires knowledge of all piping supply, drain systems, pneumatic, and medical gas systems, as well as general knowledge of electrical requirements and electronic control functions. Responsibilities also include maintaining forms and records, ensuring proper use of all assigned shop equipment, managing documentation of work performed by subordinates in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and coordinating work and inspections with facility management and building occupants. The Lead Maintenance Mechanic is also responsible for maintaining building files, drawings, and maintenance records as required.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Possess a broad knowledge of facility operations and maintenance
  • Knowledgeable in all piping supply, drain systems, pneumatic and medical gas systems
  • Has general knowledge of electrical requirements and electronic control functions
  • Ability to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain NAC/LAC clearance after hire

  • Experience with a Facility Computerized Maintenance Management System software (CMMS) highly desired

Responsibilities
