JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees the daily flow of patients at the physician practice site. Makes appropriate staffing adjustments, as necessary, in consultation with Senior Practice Manager or Physician/Provider. Develops monthly staffing schedule. Participates in orientation of new staff/students to the practice. Assists in development and review of policies and procedures. Orders medical supplies, vaccines and other supplies as directed by Practice Administrator. Coordinates disposal of bio-hazard materials with Hospital for practice site. Assists Provider by rooming patient, documenting signs/symptoms, obtaining blood pressure, weight, height, temperature, BMI and other pertinent information as required. Completes medical history forms. Will generally be assigned to a high-volume provider. Performs set-up for procedures and assists Provider with procedures, which may include performing dressing changes, ear washes, catheterizations, breathing treatments, EKG’s, urinalyses, strep, flu, pregnancy tests, and some injections as directed by the Provider and dependent upon the Providers’ specialty. Assists Provider with office exams. May administer immunizations. Updates immunization records and records VFC immunizations in VFC log as applicable per individual office. Acts as a clinical resource for CMA’s and other LPN’s. Actively participates in departmental performance improvement activities or special projects. Serves as the electronic medical record super-user or expert within practice Acts as the VFC Clinical Coordinator for individual office. Schedules tests, radiology exams and appointments with specialists as requested by the Provider and/or patients. Performs prior authorizations as required by individual office. Notifies office referral specialist when insurance referral is required as applicable. When assigned, takes patient phone calls including fielding questions on medical issues test results and medication refills. Returns calls to patients and relays information as directed by Provider. Faxes/calls/transmits prescription refills as directed by Provider. Performs walk-in (unscheduled patients who present at office) duties as scheduled, which may include: injections; blood pressures; urinalyses; test results; medication refills and collecting history and other information from the patients to be relayed to the Provider for direction. Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of JMH. Performs additional duties not addressed here as assigned by the Practice Administrator, practice site Provider and/or the JMH Vice President of Physician Services. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and JMH policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in State of Indiana required. 2 years of experience in private physician practice operations required. Current BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers certification required.
