About The Position

This position is located on the west side of downtown Indianapolis. The general range for this position is $50-$60K and includes full benefits (below): The Lead Coach develops, implements, and assesses the Excel Center’s academic planning model. These strategies include but are not limited to, student performance, retention, recruitment, and post-secondary outcomes. The Lead oversees, manages, trains, and evaluates a staff of life coaches as well as assists a caseload of students. The Lead trains new coaches, distributes caseloads, conducts informal and formal evaluations, and participates on the leadership team. The position works with all academic teams in meeting educational goals and adhering to the Indiana Academic Standards.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human relations, social work, rehabilitation counseling, education, or related fields.
Provides academic, career, college/certification access, and social-emotional mentoring, counseling, or advising ideally to high school-age students in a nontraditional, and/or in an adult education setting.
Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend others' needs. Delivers information in person, in writing, and in a digital world.
Has working knowledge of G Suite and MS Office, as well as student information systems.
Takes a strengths-based, student-centered approach to developing relationships at all levels while establishing appropriate boundaries. Adept at delivering feedback that is constructive and unbiased. Creates and maintains a safe environment for open discussions.
Develops, maintains, and strengthens partnerships with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support.
Maintains effectiveness when experiencing shifts in priorities; adjusts effectively while maintaining a positive learning environment.
Identifies and comprehends issues, problems, and opportunities; compares data from different sources to draw conclusions; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; takes action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.

Must have a valid driver’s license, up-to-date auto insurance, and a good driving record.

Responsibilities

Monitors student enrollment and maintains balanced caseloads for life coaches.
Facilitates action planning with the coaching team to address caseload concerns and withdrawals.
Establishes procedures to track and monitor student academic success.
Identifies and tracks relevant student/school data/staff performance to set improvement and/or achievement goals and to drive future evaluation and feedback.
Partners with all administrative team members and life coaches to conduct interventions and action plans to address systems, staff, and students.
Evaluates data to inform decision-making, drive outcomes and develop interventions for life coaches and students.
Creates and communicates schedule for coach evaluation process every term.
Develops personal professional/performance goals and action plans to reach goals.
Reflects on prior goals and makes adjustments to professional practice and goals.
Identifies needed professional development of life coaching staff using student data, evaluation data, and one-on-one coaching discussions.
Works directly with the school director to develop and implement school-wide goals around graduation outcomes, enrollment needs, student achievement, retention, etc.
Assists staff with professional development, training and goal setting.
Sets and maintains a high-performance culture for staff and students.
Participates in student recruitment, enrollment, and outreach efforts.
