About The Position

The Lead Licensing Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the licensing and monitoring of child care facilities in Boulder and Denver Counties, ensuring compliance with state regulations and standards. This position involves providing training, conducting inspections, and authorizing licenses for various child care facilities, while also addressing complaints and ensuring the safety of children in care. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Childhood Development, or a closely related field.
  • Three years of professional experience in child care licensing services or related fields, including two years of supervisory experience.

  • Prior state experience related to child care licensing duties.
  • Knowledge of the Child Care Licensing Act and related regulations.
  • Experience in researching and interpreting laws and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and evaluates applications and supporting documents for child care facilities.
  • Conducts inspections and interviews relevant parties to assess facility programs.
  • Trains compliance specialists to ensure consistency in inspections.
  • Analyzes applications to determine if licensing inspections can be conducted.
  • Organizes workload to complete inspections and paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Prioritizes and assigns work to ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Implements methods to improve workflow and productivity.
  • Develops training plans and provides necessary training.
  • Reviews criminal background investigation reports for compliance.
  • Ensures timely completion of licensing inspections and investigations.
  • Provides technical expertise to various boards and review panels.
  • Completes special projects related to licensing and quality initiatives.
