About The Position

We seek a Lead Lean Engineer based out of our office at 1624 Meijer Drive, Troy, MI 48084. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work from the aforementioned address and from home. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned address. Note, this position does not require travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing engineering.
  • 48 months of experience in job offered or similar in industrial engineering or lean manufacturing.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SQL, AGILE, Lean tools.
  • Experience with SAP or an equivalent ERP system.
  • Experience in Project Management.
  • Experience in leading kaizen team events to redesign assembly line layouts, material cost improvements, material flow routes, and business process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Continuous Improvement and Project Management.
  • Lead and design lean manufacturing processes and strategies for improving operation efficiency.
  • Lead numerous complex projects, providing expert guidance to production supervisors, engineering groups, and other project leaders.
  • Present progress, finance, cost-saving, and risk assessment reports to NALT (North America Leadership Team).
  • Serve as a core member of multiple cross-functional teams in industrial engineering responsible for improving customer PPAP submission process.
  • Create PFMEA, process flow, control plan, setup/work instructions, and FLM documents for NPI/NPD assembly lines.
  • Create and develop enterprise-level value stream mapping, Business Case (BC), and Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) for owned projects and new product lines.
  • Lead kaizen team events to redesign assembly line layouts, material cost improvements, material flow routes, and business process improvements.
  • Provide key assistance in machine qualification activities correlation, process capability (CP/CpK), and Gauge R&R.
  • Define, develop, and publish business improvement process documentation to reflect best practice.
  • Work with large amounts of data and communicate data findings, establishing and tracking program metrics including return on investment.
  • Own reclaim roadmap and technical program management.
  • Provide technical support with new product launches and new equipment installations (from design to manufacture).
  • Support Continuous Improvement projects by engaging and inspiring partners at all levels to come up with CI ideas and guide partners through the implementation process.
  • Monitor the performance of project/program teams using timing plans (key dates), open issues, and design/process/cost changes.
  • Ensure that production process development, tooling, and capital equipment installation activities for customer programs are being managed by the respective functional or facility project lead.
  • Manage equipment development schedule and cost in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Act as the single point-of-contact with suppliers for all development gates.
  • Create/own the 5 years roadmap for reclaim activities working closely with product line leaders and driving projects to achieve this goal.
  • Other industrial engineering duties as assigned.
