Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology (or related science) + 1 year of direct animal lab experience, OR Associate degree + 4 years of animal lab experience, OR 6 years of hands-on animal lab work without a degree.
  • Prior experience with rodents (mice/rats) in dosing, sample collection, or necropsy preferred.
  • Strong technical abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with lab equipment, software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and record-keeping.
  • Organized, adaptable, and committed to safety and compliance (GLP, IACUC, USDA, AAALAC, etc.).
  • A positive teammate who also thrives working independently.
  • Respectful communicator with a professional, can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Study Coordinators to ensure protocols, schedules, and samples are accurate and on track.
  • Prepare and verify study materials such as cage cards, sample collection labels, and data files.
  • Perform specialized technical procedures, including dosing rodents (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intraperitoneal), collecting and processing blood samples, supporting rodent surgeries with techniques like hemostasis and suturing, and conducting behavioral testing (Gait analysis, Von Frey, Dynamic Weight Bearing).
  • Perform daily in-life activities such as clinical observations, weighing, health assessments, and post-op monitoring.
  • Formulate compounds for experimental use.
  • Keep the lab running smoothly—stocked, clean, and equipped for success.
  • Utilize lab software and equipment (balances, centrifuges, incubators, fluid pumps, PPE, etc.).
  • Support company initiatives and collaborate with your team to ensure every study is completed with excellence.
