About The Position

The Lead Lab Tech oversees and performs a variety of laboratory responsibilities in caring for our patients in a one-of-a-kind, free-standing outpatient facility, providing easy access unscheduled care. This hyper-efficient delivery of Emergency Medicine Specialty Services combined with outpatient facility efficiently provides high quality care that can yield lower ER visits, lower hospital admissions and create savings.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in laboratory science, medical laboratory technology, or equivalent education and training.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working as a generalist technologist or technician.
  • Active Florida Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician license.
  • Certifications: ASCP, AMT, or AAB.
  • Great communication skills including the ability to proficiently read, write and speak English.
  • Active BLS certification or complete course within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to travel between local facilities (50-mile radius) in order to cover shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory, chemical or biological science preferred.
  • Previous lead, supervisory and/or training experience strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and training to MT/MLT's in the performance of lab responsibilities.
  • Perform all responsibilities of the Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Technician job description.
  • Complete orders on a variety of patients from minor treatment to acutely ill.
  • Exhibit excellent phone etiquette when returning calls to patients and community partners.
  • Participate in QA activities as assigned by the Lab Supervisor/Lead Tech or FL.
  • Proficiently operate lab analyzers.
  • Produce quality lab results ensuring to address any QC errors or equipment malfunctions per protocol.
  • Prepare specimens for transport to reference labs.
  • Successfully pass lab specific competencies.
  • Support the facility in meeting or exceeding goals set forth in the quality metrics.
  • Complete daily checklists.
  • Participate in morning huddles when on shift.
  • Accurate completion of lab/reagent inventory as assigned.
  • Participate in facility specific education and training.
  • Utilize organizational specific software to reference old patient records and organizational protocols.
  • Follow the information security policies and management system.
