About The Position

SUMMARY: To facilitate communication between health care providers and non-English speaking patients, helping to advocate for their needs at each point along the care continuum. Partner to oversee all training and mentoring for all spoken language Interpreters in partnership the Manager. Support daily scheduling process to ensure the right type of Interpretation support is present at all patient appointments. RESPONSIBILITIES: Interpretation & Patient Support: Provide real-time interpretation for clinical and non-clinical interactions, prioritize and respond to requests (including emergency and on-call needs), and determine appropriate interpretation methods. Training & Mentorship: Lead onboarding and training for new spoken language team members, support ongoing mentoring, and ensure readiness for effective interpretation services. Cultural Competency & Education: Participate in cultural sensitivity training, serve on related committees, and act as a liaison to support culturally appropriate communication between staff, patients, and families. Collaboration & Documentation Support: Coordinate with vendors for document translation services, support community engagement efforts, and contribute to grant projects or culturally focused initiatives.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of Language Skills assessment prior to hire
  • 2 years of interpreting experience in a medical setting
