Why This Role Matters The Lead Global Mobility Specialist plays a critical role in managing The Washington Post’s international workforce. Reporting to Director, Total Rewards, you will shape and evolve the frameworks, policies, and programs that support employees across multiple countries. Operating with a high degree of independence, you will serve as the organization’s subject matter expert on global mobility, immigration, and international HR operations. You will influence decision-making across HR and business leadership, driving operational excellence, mitigating risk, and strengthening global workforce practices. Your work will directly impact the organization’s ability to effectively manage and support a complex, distributed workforce. What motivates you You have a proven track record of influencing others by building collaborative work relationships based on mutual trust and respect. You over-communicate to make sure that everyone is clear about processes, roles and responsibilities, timelines, and next steps. You may not have experience with each country, but you know which questions to ask, how to go about doing your research, and how to apply your international background and HR best practices to solve the company’s specific problems. You are a quick learner and can apply your knowledge and skills to make the next project run faster, smoother, and more efficiently. You are proactive and anticipate issues before they arise. You are a task master and proficient in creating project and actions plans. You derive a deep sense of satisfaction from completing things on time (or ahead of time!) and crossing them off your to-do list. You are generous with sharing your knowledge and documenting your work.
