We are staffing a NEW Interfacility Transport team to transport our patients between our 4 Free Standing Emergency Departments and our 2 facilities, Trident Hospital and Summerville Hospital. We have multiple Lead Paramedic positions available. You will be working full time days usually on weekdays until our NEW state-of-the are ambulances begin to operate in early 2026. Then the expectation will be to work rotating weekends. Our teams are a committed, caring group of colleagues. The Lead Paramedic will lead the EMS Interfacility Transport Services Team. The Lead Paramedic will hold the responsibility of performing professional level work in planning, coordinating, monitoring, evaluating and managing the operations of interfacility transport and emergency medical care while ensuring compliance with applicable South Carolina statutes and administrative rules.

Requirements

  • South Carolina Driver's license - Must be Active and clear
  • South Carolina Paramedic license required
  • BLS-American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider issued card required
  • ACLS-American Heart Association or American Red Cross ACLS provider card required
  • PALS-American Heart Association or American Red Cross PALS provider card required
  • EVOC-Emergency Vehicle Operations Course completion certificate, or equivalent required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • FEMA-100, 200, 700, 800 preferred or required within 90 of employment start date
  • Minimum 3 years previous clinical experience with an advanced life support EMS system required

Nice To Haves

  • PHTLS or ITLS-International Trauma Life Support provider card preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of EMS leadership experience or in an EMS Instructor role is preferred
  • Experience with hospital-based EMS and/or Emergency Department operations and policy/procedures is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides direction, leadership and day-to-day management of the Interfacility Transport Services.
  • Assists with staffing of Interfacility Transport Services through interviews, education and evaluations.
  • Assists the Trident Hospital EMS Medical Director with implementation, education, and enforcement of policies, procedures and guidelines in accordance with State Statues. To include analyzing, drafting, coordination, preparation, and implementation of EMS guidelines.
  • Assists with performance reviews and competency analyses to identify clinical training needs, crucial staff competency needs, and areas of improvement for the Transport team and individual personnel.
  • Performs frequent and periodic reconciliation of Interfacility Transport Services patient care reports to ensure policy compliance and exceptional patient care is being provided, as well as proper patient documentation.
  • Presents metrics to Interfacility Transport management pertaining to EMS transports and related or pertinent data.
  • Oversees team usage of equipment, supplies, and technology to ensure quality, safety, and appropriate use of resources.
  • Coordinates, delegates, and verifies completion of vehicle and equipment preventative maintenance and repairs.
