Coherent Aerospace & Defense Inc, Emerging Products & Technologies (EP&T) Business Unit is seeking a Senior Integration & Test Engineer to plan, design, communicate, and execute the sequence of manufacturing, integration, and test operations for high performance electro-optomechanical assemblies. The role involves determining the integration & test build plan and manufacturing process flow, required tooling, layout of manufacturing and test areas, necessary equipment utilization, and resolving engineering problems in the manufacturing of products.

  • Leads and coordinates integration and test engineering activities for assembly, alignment, and test tooling.
  • Responsible for assembly/alignment and test plan development on assigned projects.
  • Supports proposal process by reviewing customer specifications and developing conceptual manufacturing and test plans.
  • Resolves technical issues during manufacturing, integration, and testing.
  • Collaborates with quality engineering on qualification and acceptance test procedures.
  • Partners with program management and business development activities.
  • Serves as the Manufacturing/Integration or Test Process Owner for electro-opto-mechanical products.
  • Thoroughly documents new assembly, alignment, and test processes.
  • Troubleshoots product quality and production yield problems.
  • Participates in configuration control and change control activities.
  • Assists in training operators, technicians, and engineers on new processes.
  • Promotes positive health and safety behaviors within the department.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business Management, Quality Technology or STEM discipline and 7+ years of relevant experience or master’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in plant management, industrial engineering, and manufacturing operations is highly desirable.
  • Must have or able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (or higher).
  • Experience in Optical Quality Inspection and process improvements for optics.
  • Experience with optical and fiber component handling.
  • Experience with various measurement and testing tools.
  • Knowledge of optical alignment and opto-mechanical assembly techniques.
  • Experience using CAD software; SOLIDWORKS experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with optical design software like Zemax, CODE V, OSLO.
