About The Position

As an Instrumentation & Controls Project Lead Engineer, you will lead project teams with the assistance of other I&C engineers involved in the design of new upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities. Develop P&ID, I/O Lists, Control Panel Design, C&E development, Control Narrative, Network Architecture, Cable Schedule, Location Plans, and preparation of specifications for the procurement of instrumentation and controls equipment and related installation services. Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and Design Reviews. You will work directly with the client representative to ask and answer questions related to the Instrumentation and Controls design. Through mentoring, classroom-style technical sessions, and on-the-job training, you will increase your knowledge and skills in your engineering discipline. Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs. Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation. Provide guidance as a mentor in the development of less experienced engineers. Develop your career via peer-learning by way of S&L’s systems of process and associated “Communities of Practice.”

Requirements

  • A BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited undergraduate program or a US based ABET-accredited program
  • 15+ years of relevant oil and gas or industrial experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in the practical application of instrumentation and controls engineering and technology including applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to a project design.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, with emphasis on MS Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective experience working in a collaborative team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • P.Eng license
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Experience with SCADA and Radio Networks.
