About The Position

A Lead I&E Technician will lead a crew of I&E technicians in the execution of safe, quality, and efficient completion of various tasks related to I&E maintenance work being performed at a petrochemical processing plant, including but not limited to: Lead Technician overseeing, coordinating, and executing craft specific instrumentation and electrical labor. Perform skilled instrumentation/electrical activities; disassembly, repair, test, troubleshoot, analysis, calibration, and/or installation of various types of equipment such as pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters; control valves; motor and motor control circuits; variable frequency drives; low- and high-pressure tubing/piping systems; and measuring/gauging equipment that control, regulate, and/or monitor mechanical systems. Providing support services such as but not limited to firewatch, holewatch, bottlewatch, light equipment/vehicle operation, material kitting/delivery, general housekeeping, etc.

Must have reliable transportation
Must be willing and able to work: Up to 7 days per week Overtime, call-out, etc. as required
Must be capable of working under the direction of a skilled Foreman.
Must be experienced with and/or capable of successfully completing all required training/qualifications necessary to oversee safety-sensitive work which includes but is not limited to the preparation, set-up, and execution of hot work, confined space entry, and fresh air work.
Must be experienced with and/or capable of successfully completing all required training/qualifications necessary to utilize all related tools, apparatuses, equipment, etc. to execute safety-sensitive work which includes but is not limited to the preparation, set-up, and execution of hot work, confined space entry, and fresh air work.
Will be expected to assist other crafts when not actively performing instrumentation and electrical activities.
Must be capable of reading, understanding, and adhering to restrictions and/or requirements of various types of work permits and/or JSAs.
Must successfully complete Short Service Employee (SSE) program, if applicable.
Must successfully complete a 90-day probationary period. Any disciplinary and/or attendance issues during this time will be grounds for termination.
Must maintain satisfactory bi-annual evaluation scores of no less than 3.0. Unsatisfactory bi-annual evaluation scores of less than 3.0 for two consecutive cycles will result in disciplinary action, up to termination, for poor performance.
National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Performance Verified (PV) certification for Instrumentation and/or Electrical Tech or certification from accredited Instrumentation and/or Electrical Tech training program.
Must have a minimum score of 81% on the Zachry Craft Assessment test pre-employment.
Must have at a minimum 5-10 years of related experience as a Lead I&E Tech.
Must have experience using industrial hand and power tools in an industrial work environment.
Must possess good problem-solving abilities and an agile mindset.
Must possess aptitude for electrical theory, have effective computing, literacy, and numeracy skills, and manual dexterity.
Must possess the ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and valid Driver’s License.
Must possess effective communication skills (written and/or verbal) with co-workers, supervisors, and customer.
Must possess a strong commitment/understanding of Zachry and customer core values, safety rules, and regulations.
Must possess and maintain a valid TWIC card for the duration of employment.
Must successfully complete and maintain applicable Safety Council and/or Site-Specific credentials for the duration of employment.
Must be capable of reading and comprehending technical manuals as well as industrial/engineered drawings such as but not limited to blueprints, sketches, plans, wiring diagrams, schematics, isometric drawings, manufacturer and engineering instructions, P&ID, etc. to determine scope of work, locations, required tools/equipment, and bill of materials to execute activities.
Must poses knowledge and experience of hoisting/lifting/and rigging practices to execute these activities in a safe and controlled manner with the assistance of come-along, cranes, etc. as necessary.
Must be capable of leading and mentoring other crew members such as helpers, apprentices, and Journeymen II.
Must possess skills and ability to preplan, coordinate, and order material for specific jobs/activities/tasks.
Will be expected to assist other crafts when not actively performing I&E Tech activities.
Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, cycling, bending, squatting, lifting, and physically demanding work.
Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls.
Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
Must be capable of lifting, carrying, and moving up to 50lbs.
Must be capable and comfortable working at extreme heights on fixed, temporary, and/or mobile platforms.
Must be capable and comfortable working within confined spaces to include but not limited to tanks, vessels, pits, excavations, etc.
Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.
Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, chemical suits, and steel-toe boots.
Must be clean shaven.

Must actively participate and support site programs such as (at a minimum): Safe Catch/Quality Catch/Stop Work Authority
