About The Position

· Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. · High school diploma or GED. · Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification or equivalent certification . · Current Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician License. · Duties require very good verbal communication and interpersonal skills. · 2 years recent experience (within the past 3 years) as a Pharmacy Tech (Internship included). · Compound Sterile Product preparation experience preferred. · Demonstrated strong leadership, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills. · Demonstrated ability to triage work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency. · Demonstrated ability to maintain harmonious and cooperative relations with fellow employees, medical staff, patients and guests and serves effectively as part of the pharmacy team in performing professional service to patients. 1. Reviews and processes departmental order requests. 2. Prepares medications for distribution to the patient care units. 3. Distributes medications to the patient care units. 4. Maintains the medication inventory, place orders in stock, check expiration dates, process returns as needed. 5. Billing and other pharmacy duties that do not require a pharmacist. 6. Maintains appropriate records and regulatory documentation. 7. Pre-packaging and labeling of bulk medications to unit dosed containers/packaging. 8. Answers telephone directing phone calls appropriately and diverts all medication/clinical inquiries to the Pharmacist. 9. Maintains cleanliness of the department. 10. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and Infection Control standards. 11. Participates in educational programs, in-services and meetings as required. 12. Orders medications from various suppliers. 13. Prepares parenteral products . 14. Trains and orients new pharmacy support personnel. 15. Issuance and delivery of medications to an Automated Dispensing Cabinet in a timely manner. 16. Obtains patient medication orders for medication reconciliation duties to input into MAR. 17. Ensures completion of daily technician tasks. 18. Ensures reconciliation of daily pharmacy order. 19. Coordinates activity of support personnel. 20. Generates pharmacy activity reports for review. 21. Ensures effective daily department operations and participates in the staffing process to ensure adequate staffing. 22. Requisitions supplies and equipment, maintenance, and repair services, and prepares related forms necessary for the continued operation of the department. 23. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers. 24. Perform other work-related duties as requested/directed by a Pharmacist.
