About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Infrastructure / Site Reliability Engineer to join our engineering team at Particle. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our data platform. This role pairs with other engineering teams and will have a unique opportunity to work on complex problems while covering a broad range of responsibilities, including security, DevOps, production monitoring, Cloud FinOps, and infrastructure as code. This role requires a self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and a passion for building resilient systems. Location & Work Schedule This is a hybrid role based in New York City . The team works in-office two days per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) , so applicants must be located within commuting distance and comfortable with in-person collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of building and maintaining production software in a cloud environment (e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • Deep understanding of best practices of Site Reliability, including API, Application and infrastructure and reliability
  • Proficiency in a modern programming language such as Golang, Python, Java.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
  • Deep understanding of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Strong knowledge of privacy and security best practices and infosec principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex projects.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and manage scalable and resilient infrastructure in Google Cloud using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
  • Security and Infosec: Ensure compliance with healthcare security standards and best practices. Implement security controls, manage identity and access, and conduct regular security audits.
  • DevOps: Streamline CI/CD pipelines, automate deployment processes, and integrate best practices for continuous integration and delivery.
  • Monitoring and Alerting: Develop and maintain monitoring systems to ensure high availability and performance. Implement alerting mechanisms to promptly respond to incidents.
  • Production Support: Respond to production incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. Note - most of our service is used asynchronously, and outages are not typical.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of SRE practices into the development process.
